Message to Trump supporters: The next great leader of your “movement” died from COVID-19
by Bob Schwartz
We don’t know exactly how many people have needlessly died from COVID-19 because of Trump’s mishandling of the crisis. We don’t know exactly how many more will die because of it, or because of the misguided movement to “liberate” America from the current helpful restrictions. Little doubt it is in the thousands of deaths.
Each of these lives is important. Those lives also represent accomplishments that will remain forever unfulfilled in all realms. So if you are one of those who follows some socio-political movement like Trumpism, consider this:
You know that person you hadn’t yet heard about but who could be “the next Trump”? He died from COVID-19, though if Trump had acted sooner and more competently, he wouldn’t have.
From this side (UK) of the Atlantic where the virus has been killing nearly 1,000 people a day (and the final figures will probably show over 1,000 deaths a day), it is hard to understand what is happening in the US. Whilst I understand everyone wants to get out of lock-down, back to work and so on, surely staying alive and not allowing the virus to spread is much more important?
It is clear that when people group together, the virus rips through those groups and onwards into other communities with surprising speed (as in Italy). We just have to look what is happening in New York. So desperately sad.
But you are not alone in the US. Our UK Government (such as it is) has been entirely negligent throughout this crisis. Moreover, they have lied, evaded answering questions, delivered conflicting advice, failed to deliver on so many levels and failed to act expeditiously believing they cold some how stop the virus spreading just by feeding us a pack of lies and half-truths. We have seen bad decision being made after bad decision. We have an entirely imbecilic government in the UK that is not fit for purpose.
The UK government is led by an incompetent, blustering fool of a man – Boris Johnson. Johnson’s chinless bunch of colleagues are completely out of their depth and seem to think we’re not taking note of their incompetence. They should hang their sorry heads in deep shame. Will they do that? Of course they won’t. But one thing is sure, when this is all over, the UK Government and the liar, Boris Johnson, will try to take full credit for the selfless work carried out by health professionals and others who kept the UK ticking over despite whatever the UK government and Johnson in particular tried (and failed) to do.
I wonder if it will be any different in the US? I hope it will. You stay safe over there. Let’s hope we all get through this and live to see better days.
